The 2023 Summer Showcase will bring together two sides with new coaches and revamped rosters in pursuit of a spot in the USL Championship Playoffs. The Switchbacks are led by first-year Head Coach Stephen Hogan who joined the club in 2021 as an assistant coach and became the club’s Technical Director at the end of that season. The club reached last year’s Western Conference Final and ranked fifth overall with 64 goals scored as one of the most attacking sides in the league.

Ahead of the marquee match, the Summer Showcase Fan Fest will provide a unique pregame experience for fans of all ages. The fun includes family-friendly games, giveaways and prizes, food and beverage, live music, partner activations, and other experiential attractions. The Fan Fest takes place outside of Gate A at Weidner Field.
The night before the big match, fans are invited to come show off their support at a special evening of soccer fun and friends at local hotspot Trainwreck.
The main event is a live broadcast of the weekly SiriusXM FC show “USL All Access,” hosted by Mike Watts and Devon Kerr, which starts at 6:00PM.
Also on tap are special guests from both the Switchbacks and FC Tulsa, beach soccer in the Trainwreck sand pits, giveaways, and a custom-crafted drink special -- The "Tequila Corralejo Golazo," a Switchbacks-inspired blue margarita. The first 100 fans (over 21) in attendance will receive a FREE Golazo!
To kick off the week of USL Summer Showcase events, we invite all fans to join us for a screening of Big-Time Soccer: The Remarkable Rise & Fall of the NASL, the incredible story of the 1970s league that kicked off the modern American soccer movement. The screening takes place at the Ivywild School and is presented in partnership with the Independent Film Society of Colorado [indiespiritfilmfestival.org/] and the Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival [kickingandscreening.com].

Weidner Field, in Colorado Springs, CO, offers sprawling views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains, and downtown Colorado Springs. The Switchbacks began play in 2015 at Weidner Field where it invested 3.5 million to improve a city-owned facility. Sitting at an altitude of roughly 6,035 feet above sea level, the facility has the highest elevation of any stadium used by a professional team in the American soccer pyramid. The franchise is owned by the Ragain Family and lead by Ed Ragain, the former owner of a Colorado-based international engineering firm.
