PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Thursday it has signed Ghanaian international midfielder Solomon Asante for the 2018 USL season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Asante most recently spent time with Congolese-based TP Mazambe, where he formally played under current Rising FC Head Coach Patrice Carteron.

Since Asante joined TP Mazambe in 2013, he helped lead the club to three league titles in four seasons in addition to an African Super Cup title in 2016 and an African Champions League title in 2015. Asante has also played internationally, earning 17 caps with the Ghana National Team.

Asante will be reunited with former TP Mazambe teammate and midfielder Gladson Awako. Including Asante, Phoenix now has 17 players signed for the 2018 season.
