Bottom two teams in West meet looking for boost

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers 2 and LA Galaxy II meet on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park both looking to gain confidence as they sit as the bottom two teams in the Western Conference entering the weekend’s action. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-13-2, 5pts

  • Portland just missed out on a second win of the season in a 3-3 draw against Orange County SC last Saturday night at Orange County Great Park.

  • Villyan Bijev scored twice as T2 led late in the contest, but a stoppage-time goal by OCSC’s Gustavo Villalobos earned the hosts a draw.

  • Bijev is tied for eighth in the USL with six goals this season, following up his All-League selection in 2016 with another positive season.

  • Portland has yet to win at Providence Park this season, with its lone win this season coming on the road against Sacramento Republic FC.

  • The Galaxy II slumped to the heaviest defeat in USL history last Monday night as they fell 9-0 to Reno 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field.

  • Los Dos is now on a three-game losing streak, and has matched its highest loss total in a season in the club’s four-season history.

  • Justin Dhillon has a team-high four goals this season, but is one of only four players to record multiple goals this season for the Galaxy II.

  • Los Dos will have Ryo Fujii available on Sunday evening after the midfielder served a one-game suspension for caution accumulation against Reno.
