Former San Antonio FC standout Jose Gallegos and current club Sønderjyske are headed for Denmark’s top flight next season.

Sønderjyske sealed its promotion from the Danish 1.Division on Thursday evening with a 2-1 victory against Fredericia at home stadium Sydbank Park, sealing one of the two promotion spots to the SuperLiga for the 2024-25 campaign with four games to spare.

Next in their sights? Winning the league title. Sønderjyske has a six-point lead on second-placed Aalborg having played one game more than their rival. The two sides are set to meet on May 11 as Sønderjyske aims to build on a current five-game undefeated streak.

Gallegos has been a key figure in Sønderjyske’s success this season. The 22-year-old has recorded 21 starts in 24 appearances this season and has bagged five goals and two assists while leading the side with 2.7 completed dribbles per 90 minutes while also recording 42 shots and 17 shots on target.

The 2021 Championship All-League selection and Young Player of the Year award finalist was also awarded the club’s Player of the Month award for February & March upon the resumption of the league season after the winter break.

Now, everyone sing the song!
