COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Thursday the club had acquired Goalkeeper Luis Zamudio on loan from D.C. United for the remainder of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

"I'm extremely excited to be joining the Switchbacks,” said Zamudio “I can't wait to get to work and help the team as much as I can on and off the field. I know this group has a lot of potential and we can win a lot of games this year for all the fans. I am also very excited to be at Weidner Field and bring joy to the beautiful city of Colorado Springs."

Zamudio returns on loan to a USL Championship club this season having last year competed on loan with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. The 25-year-old made six saves in five appearances for the side, posting four shutouts and a save percentage of 85.7 percent. He previously competed in the league on loan with Loudoun United FC in the 2022 campaign, where he recorded 105 saves across 27 appearances while posting a Goals Prevented mark of -2.57 on 53 goals against.

In 2016, Zamudio first started his career playing for Club America Premier in the Mexican Football League's lower divisions. After playing there for four seasons, he moved to USL League One playing for North Texas FC in 2020 and Fort Lauderdale CF in 2021. In League One, Zamudio made 13 appearances across two seasons and recorded 48 saves for a cumulative save percentage of 68.6 percent and a Goals Prevented mark of +1.08.

“Luis Zamudio is a fantastic keeper who hasn't had a chance to reach the next level consistently,” said Switchbacks Sporting Director. “His presence and control in the box are a big thing for the staff, and we think he can come in and compete right away for the starting spot. We are excited to see him work and welcome him to Colorado”
