SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Thursday the club had signed forward Kai Koreniuk to a 25-day contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Koreniuk will be eligible for selection in San Antonio’s contest against Sacramento Republic FC this Saturday night at Toyota Field.

“We are delighted to welcome Kai to the Team. He is a versatile attacker with a tremendous upside,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. “Kai possesses the unique skillset to combine and beat players off the dribble, demonstrates well-timed vertical runs, and is clinical in the box. He is committed and motivated to learn and adapt to our Team Identity as quickly as possible.”

Koreniuk spent three seasons in Major League Soccer with the LA Galaxy, scoring his first MLS goal in 2020. During that period he also spent time on loan in the USL Championship with the LA Galaxy II and recorded 14 goals and five assists in 40 regular season contests.

Born in Ormond Beach, Fla., Koreniuk has featured for the Netherlands U-16 and U-18 squads, scoring twice with the U-18 team. In four caps with the U.S. U-17 squad, Koreniuk scored once.

The 25-year-old began his professional career with Vitesse Arnhem of Eredivisie in the Netherlands. In the final season of his four years with the club, Koreniuk scored 10 goals in 19 matches with the club’s U-21 team.
