Rising FC Reveals Details for 2019 Mobile Mini Sun Cup

Eighth edition of event includes Red Bulls, Sporting KC, Timbers among eight MLS clubs

PHOENIX – The USL Championship’s Phoenix Rising FC announced on Friday it would welcome eight clubs from Major League Soccer for the 2019 Mobile Mini Sun Cup, set to be held at both the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex and the Kino Sports Complex, home of USL League One club FC Tucson, from February 6-23, 2019.

Joining Rising FC at this year’s event will be FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo, the New York Red Bulls, Minnesota United FC, Portland Timbers FC, Real Salt Lake, Seattle Sounders FC and Sporting Kansas City.

Three of the clubs set to take part in the event, the Dynamo, Red Bulls and Sporting Kansas City, will be gearing up for their participation in the 2019 Concacaf Champions League, which kicks off the week of February 19-21. The event also features Portland Timbers FC, which this year advanced to MLS Cup after winning the league’s Western Conference in the 2018 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

The eighth edition of the preseason tournament will see two games played at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex as Rising FC prepares to defend its USL Championship Western Conference title, while the remainder of the games will be hosted by FC Tucson as it gets set for its first season in the professional ranks in League One next spring.
