Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes
Current record: 6-13-6, 24pts
The Harrisburg City Islanders come into this match needing a win to get back on track as they have fallen well off the pace in the Eastern Conference, following their fourth straight loss on Aug. 23 to Louisville City FC.
Following the 4-0 loss to Louisville, the City Islanders have gone 14 days without playing, and will be hoping that the break has allowed them to forget about the issues and get back on track and back in the USL Cup Playoffs frame.
It has been a long wait for a win for the City Islanders, who have not won since a July 15th win over the Richmond Kickers, a string of seven matches.
Now sitting 11 points outside of the Playoff places, Harrisburg is running out of time to get points and back into the top eight. With just seven matches to play, Harrisburg needs to start a run on Wednesday to salvage their season.
Tampa Bay Rowdies news and notes
Current record: 10-7-8, 38pts
It has been a frustrating recent run for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, as they have found themselves sliding thanks to three matches without a win. The latest was a 4-2 loss to New York Red Bulls II on Saturday to open its three-game trip through the Northeast.
The Rowdies leveled through Martin Paterson after New York had taken an early lead, and tried to rally late as Hunter Gorskie scored his first goal for the club, but the Red Bulls II recorded a second consecutive four-goal outing at MSU Soccer Park to take victory.
The loss saw the Rowdies fall to fifth place in the USL Eastern Conference after a win for the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday night, which would mean no home playoff game when the postseason arrives.
To compound things for the Rowdies, they have only won one away match, a significant reason for their slide down to fifth. With four of their last seven matches on the road, Tampa Bay needs to fix its away form if it is are to have a chance at a playoff game at Al Lang Stadium.
