PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Rhode Island FC announced on Tuesday it had signed midfielder Isaac Angking for the 2024 USL Championship season. The Rhode Island native will be available for selection when Rhode Island visits North Carolina FC this Saturday night.

Angking most recently played for Columbus Crew 2, where the midfielder made 19 appearances and logged 1,048 minutes en route to the 2022 MLS Next Pro Cup final. Prior to joining Columbus Crew 2, Angking scored twice in eight appearances for New England Revolution II in 2020 and added one assist in five matches while on loan with Charlotte Independence during the 2019 USL Championship season. In his rookie season with New England, Angking made four MLS appearances including his professional debut on September 5, 2018 against New York City FC.

“Isaac is a talented midfielder and we’re excited to integrate him into our team,” said Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith. “With international, USL and MLS experience, Isaac brings creativity and a good passing range. We couldn’t be happier to sign another local player from Rhode Island.”

Growing up in Providence, Angking represented Bayside FC, which was also the youth club of Rhode Island FC co-founder Michael Parkhurst and current RIFC midfielder Kevin Vang. In addition to his professional experience, Angking was called into numerous U.S. Soccer camps and tournaments from Under-13 to Under-20 at the youth level.

At the senior level, Angking represents Puerto Rico and made his international debut on January 19, 2021. Angking has scored four goals in seven appearances for El Huracan Azul.
