Will Seymore signs new contract with New Mexico

Versatile defender is among nine players set to return as United makes first roster moves

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Wednesday the club’s first roster moves ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season, with nine players currently set to return to the Black & Yellow roster from the 2023 team.

Leading the group is Will Seymore, whom the club has signed to a new contract, retaining the versatile defender after he ranked fourth on the team with 2,573 minutes across the regular season and playoffs while leading United with 40 interceptions and also recording 99 clearances, 36 tackles and 11 blocked shots defensively.

New Mexico also exercised contract options on defender Arturo Astorga and midfielders Zico Bailey and Nicky Hernandez. Previously under contract for the 2024 season are forwards Daniel Bruce, Santi Moar and Cristian Nava, midfielder Jacobo Reyes and defender Harry Swartz.

The club continues to discuss potential returns with additional players from the 2023 squad, with the new technical staff of Head Coach Eric Quill and Sporting Director Itamar Keinan entering their first offseason at the club also targeting new arrivals for the 2024 campaign.
