Revolution Homegrown midfielder joins Independence on loan for remainder of season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence announced on Friday it had acquired midfielder Isaac Angking on loan from the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2019 USL Championship season. Per the loan agreement, New England has the right to recall Angking at any point.

Angking is a product of the Revolution Academy who was signed as a Homegrown Player in January 2018. The 19-year-old made his MLS debut on Sept. 5, 2018 at New York City FC. Having previously represented the United States with the U-14, U-15, U-17, and U-19 teams, Angking was called up to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team roster by Head Coach Tab Ramos for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship last October.

The Independence also announced that midfielder Mark Hill had been recalled from his loan from Scottish club Celtic FC. Hill made nine appearances for the Independence this season, recording five key passes and six interceptions.

Angking will be available for selection as the Independence continue in USL Championship action on Saturday night as Louisville City FC visits the Sportsplex at Matthews.
