ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC announced on Wednesday evening that midfielder Joaquin Rivas had been selected by the El Salvador National Team for an upcoming friendly against Guatemala on Wednesday, March 6th at 10 p.m. ET to be held at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

Rivas made his international debut on November 16th, 2018 in a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against Bermuda and scored his first international goal four days later in a friendly against Haiti.

“I would say being able to represent your country is something very special for a soccer player,” said Rivas. “We all dream of moments like these.”

An offseason signing by STLFC, Rivas is coming off a career year in the USL Championship that saw him scored 12 goals for Tulsa Roughnecks FC. His performances for the Roughnecks helped the 26-year-old earn his first call-up by El Salvador last November.

Born in Santa Ana, El Salvador, Rivas was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and won the Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year before attending the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. A former standout in USL League Two for the Kitsap Pumas, Rivas made his Championship debut for Sacramento Republic FC in the 2015 season. He has made 81 career appearances in the league, recording 17 goals and three assists.
