Preseason: Week 3 Preview

PITTSBURGH (February 20, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC enters its third week of preseason action with 14 players under contract and an additional number invited on trial.

The Week Ahead

Riverhounds SC will compete in its third straight two-match weekend, facing off against the University of Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. on Friday at Ambrose Urbanic Field before clashing with Bethlehem Steel FC at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

Both matches are free to attend for the public.

Led by head coach Jay Vidovich, the University of Pittsburgh finished Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play with a 2-6-0 record. In the ACC tournament, the Panthers knocked off No. 7 University of Virginia before losing to No. 8 Duke University in the following round.

Bethlehem finished the 2018 USL Championship regular season in the No. 6 spot and subsequently played Riverhounds SC in the first round of the USL Cup playoffs. Steel FC knocked off the Hounds in penalties and then lost to eventual-champion Louisville City FC in the second round.

Last Week

The Hounds played both Duquesne University and the University of Charleston to 0-0 draws this past weekend at Highmark Stadium. Contributing to the team shutouts were goalkeepers Kyle Morton and Ben Lundgaard. Both keepers played one half in each of these games.
