TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC scored a late winner to earn a 2-1 victory against the Swope Park Rangers in a preseason exhibition at the Titan Sports and Performance Center on Saturday afternoon as Fabian Bastidas scored the winner for the hosts.

The Roughnecks took the lead just before halftime when Christian Altamirano converted from the penalty spot after a foul in the area. Swope Park pressed for an equalizer in the second half and finally found one with five minutes to go when Kaveh Rad got on the end of a free kick by Enzo Mauriz and flicked home a finish.

Two minutes later, however, Tulsa regained the lead when Bastides got on the end of a corner kick to head home and give the Roughnecks the victory.

“We anticipated this game would test us in different areas that we have yet to be challenged so far in preseason and knew that Swope Park Rangers would want to have the majority of the ball,” said Roughnecks Head Coach Michael Nsien. “We had good defensive lines, created multiple chances early that we didn’t take advantage of, and we are very disappointed to give up a late goal on a set piece.  I want to thank the fans for their continued support and attendance, as a team we keep moving forward.”

REAL SALT LAKE 4, PHOENIX RISING FC 1: Adam Jahn gave Phoenix Rising FC an early lead against Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake, but a pair of goals by Damir Kreilach sent Real to victory at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex on Saturday night.

Jahn struck in just the second minute when a turnover in midfield gave Solomon Asante the chance to thread a through-ball in for the former Columbus Crew SC forward to run onto, and Jahn finished low at the near post from the right side of the penalty area.

Kreilach hit back for RSL in the 11th minute as he tucked home a cross by United States Men’s National Team forward Corey Baird, and then added a second three minutes before halftime with a dipping free kick that picked out the bottom-right corner of the net.

Real added to its lead in the second half as Brooks Lennon converted from the penalty spot after a foul in the area before Jefferson Savarino rounded out the scoring with 16 minutes to go off an assist by Aaron Herrera.

NEW MEXICO UNITED 1, UNIVERSITY OF DENVER 0: Devon Sandoval scored the only goal as New Mexico United defeated the University of Denver in front of more than 1,200 fans at the University of New Mexico on Saturday afternoon.

A Lobos alum, Sandoval scored with eight minutes to go as his pressure created a defensive error that opened up the chance to find the net. “It’s something to build off,” Sandoval told the Albuquerque Journal’s Glen Rosales. “We’ve still got a few weeks until the first game, and that’s when it’s really going to matter.”

EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE 4, FC GRANDE 1: El Paso Locomotive FC took an early lead and used it to propel the side to a convincing victory against FC Grande as Omar Salgado scored a pair of goals for the hosts.

Locomotive FC scored less than a minute into the contest as Louis “Chapa” Herrera set up Salgado for his first goal of the contest, and four minutes later El Paso was awarded a penalty kick that was dispatched by Edson Partida to double the lead.

FC Grande pulled a goal back on a penalty kick of its own in the 25th minute, but Salgado restored the two-goal advantage for Locomotive FC before Herrera added a goal to his earlier assist shortly before halftime with a finish from just inside the penalty area to round out the scoring.

FRESNO FC 3, CAL-STATE BAKERSFIELD 0: Three first-half goals led Fresno FC to victory against Cal-State Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon in stormy conditions that saw the game’s kickoff delayed by hail.

Qudus Lawal gave the Foxes the lead in the seventh minute as he tucked home a cross by trialist Diego Cassillas. The hosts then struck twice in four minutes late in the half as Arun Basuljevic first found the net himself and then set up trialist Alvaro Nogales three minutes before halftime to wrap up the scoring.
