Phoenix Rising FC Falls Short Against Real Salt Lake

PHOENIX (February 16, 2019) — Phoenix Rising FC jumped out of the gates strong thanks to forward Adam Jahn, but the momentum from that game-opening tally couldn’t be sustained as the club fell to MLS side Real Salt Lake, 4-1.

Less than three minutes into the match, midfielder Solomon Asante freed Jahn through the defense down the right flank of the pitchJahn aimed and fired toward the near right post and beat RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando to make it 1-0 Phoenix Rising.

RSL midfielder Damir Kreilach then scored a brace with goals in the 11th and 42nd minute to give his club the 2-1 lead heading into the half. Arizona-native Brooks Lennon converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to make it 3-1 and Jefferson Savarino finished the evening’s scoring to make it 4-1.

Phoenix Rising FC continues its play in the 2019 Mobile Mini Sun Cup next Wednesday, February 20, against MLS side Portland Timbers in Tucson, Ariz. The match kicks off from the Kino Sports Complex North Stadium at 6 p.m.
