BRADENTON, Fla. – Louisville City FC swept to a 3-1 victory against Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution in a preseason clash on Thursday afternoon at IMG Academy as LouCity continued its preparations for the defense of its USL Cup title in the 2019 USL Championship season.

Speedy Williams, Niall McCabe and Magnus Rasmussen each found the net for Louisville, while New England’s Justin Rennicks scored in the second half.

Williams put LouCity ahead in just the third minute as he headed home a cross by Brian Ownby. The Jamaican international then played provider for McCabe just before the half-hour mark as Louisville took a two-goal lead to the break.

Rasmussen added Louisville’s third in the 65th minute as he fired home a shot from the top of the penalty area off an assist by Sunny Jane. New England pulled a goal back through Rennicks three minutes later, but LouCity held firm the rest of the way to claim the victory.

EL PASO LOCOMOTIVE FC 3, FC JUAREZ 1: El Paso Locomotive FC took victory against its Ascenso MX neighbor FC Juarez in an exhibition on Wednesday night as James Kiffe, Sebastian Contreras and Omar Salgado found the net for Locomotive FC at the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez.

Kiffe opened the scoring in the 24th minute after receiving a pinpoint pass from midfielder Calvin Rezende. The Bravos, who fielded a side that combined first team and U23 players, tied the match in the 37th minute as Aaron Gomez found the net, but Locomotive FC regained the lead midway through the second half when Contreras stepped up and placed a free kick just over the wall and neatly underneath the crossbar to put Locomotive FC back ahead.

El Paso added to its lead with 10 minutes to go as Contreras added an assist to his earlier goal thanks to a cross that resulted in a thundering header from Salgado into the back of the net. That wrapped up the scoring as El Paso headed home with a solid victory against its regional neighbor.

TAMPA BAY ROWDIES 2, ORLANDO CITY B 1: The Rowdies took victory against USL League One’s Orlando City B in a preseason clash at Montverde Academy on Wednesday afternoon. Zach Steinberger and Yann Ekra found the net for Tampa Bay as it prepared for its clash this Saturday against D.C. United in the Suncoast Invitational at Al Lang Stadium.

BIRMINGHAM LEGION FC 3, CHATTANOOGA RED WOLVES SC 1: Chandler Hoffman was among the scorers as Legion FC took victory against League One’s Red Wolves at BBVA Compass Field.

Hoffman and Prosper Kasim both found the net for the hosts before Eamon Zayed pulled a goal back for Chattanooga in the second half. Birmingham added a third, however, as Michael Salazar notched the final goal of the game to give the Championship side victory.

SWOPE PARK RANGERS 2, NORTH TEXAS SC 1: The Swope Park Rangers claimed victory against League One side North Texas SC at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday morning as the Rangers continued their preparations for the 2019 USL Championship season.

The Rangers fell behind in the fifth minute when FCD Academy product Ricardo Pepi fired home from the edge of the area, and the hosts held on to their lead until halftime. Two minutes after the interval, the Rangers pulled level when Sporting KC Academy product Wilson Harris spun his man in the area and the ball dribbled out to Jerome Ngom Mbekeli, who fired home from close range.

The Rangers took the lead in the 53rd minute when trialist Enoch Mushagalusa beat his man and drove into the area before slotting a cool finish into the bottom corner, making the score 2-1. The Rangers would hold on to that lead through full time to pick up their second consecutive win in preseason.
