RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC made another addition to its forward line on Wednesday with the signing of forward Corey Hertzog for the 2019 USL Championship season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Hertzog joins Reno after having scored 44 regular-season goals in his USL Championship career, good for ninth all-time in the league’s history, and having three times been named to the All-League Team.

“Corey is a striker that scored a lot of goals in this league and is a player that works really hard off the ball as well,” said Reno Head Coach Ian Russell. “He can help us lead our press and is going to be a good player to have on this team.”

Hertzog spent the 2018 season with fellow Championship side Saint Louis FC, where he recorded four goals, but had previously put together back-to-back All-League seasons for Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as he scored 27 goals in 62 games over the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. Hertzog also had a standout season in 2012 on loan with then-Championship side Wilmington Hammerheads FC, which he helped lead to the 2012 USL Cup.

“It’s always good to sign for a team that you’ve heard nothing but good things about,” Hertzog said. “I’m excited to come here and score some goals.”

Prior to his professional career, Hertzog competed in USL League Two for Reading United AC and at Penn State University before being selected with the 13th pick of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls. He has also competed professionally for Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Major League Soccer, and both Orlando City SC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies before his breakthrough seasons with Riverhounds SC.
