LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC unveiled its first signings in club history on Tuesday, with goalkeeper Calle Brown and midfielder Omar Milton Campos joining the club for its inaugural season in the USL Championship this March. The signings are pending league and federation approval.

A native of Leesburg, Va., Brown was a standout at the University of Virginia after competing for Loudoun County High School as a youth player. He led the Cavaliers to the 2014 NCAA Championship, earning Most Valuable Defensive Player at the College Cup in addition All-Tournament Team honors as he recorded two key saves in a penalty shootout against UCLA in the final.

Brown then began his professional career with USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, and after a stellar rookie season he was signed by Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo the following offseason. Brown spent loan spells at Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC before being traded to the Seattle Sounders on Feb. 20, 2018. In four USL Championship seasons, Brown recorded 17 clean sheets in 55 appearances, and last year posted 70 saves and two shutouts for S2. 

“Signing two high quality players is a major milestone in Loudoun United history,” said Loudoun United FC Head Coach Richie Williams. “Calle is a local guy with deep ties in the area, who has had a great career in USL and MLS. We wanted to bring in a player with some experience in domestic soccer and Calle provided us with that. We are also really excited to add Omar to the squad. He is a young player who we’ve been watching closely in El Salvador. We think this is a great avenue for him to continue his development and we’re really excited to see how both players fit into the squad in the inaugural season.”

An 18-year-old, Campos was born in El Salvador and started his career with C.D. Los Andes in the Salvadoran third tier. He then moved to Club Deportivo Dragón in the Salvadoran Primera División. The midfielder represented El Salvador at the U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels. Campos was also a part of the team that represented El Salvador in the 2018 Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) U-19 Tournament, a competition held by the Central American governing body, Central American Football Union (UNCAF). 

“Signing the first players to represent Loudoun United in our inaugural season is a special chapter in our history books,” said Loudoun United FC Chief Operating Officer Adam Behnke. “The fact that we were able to add a player with deep ties to Loudoun County in Calle and a talented young midfielder from El Salvador in Omar is a great first step in assembling a team that embodies our community. We’re looking forward to adding more players ahead of our USL opener on March 9.”
