2018 All-League selection with Orange County scored 20 goals in first Championship season

INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven added its third major attacking piece of the offseason on Tuesday, signing 2018 USL Championship All-League First Team selection Thomas Enevoldsen for the club’s second season in the league.

Enevoldsen’s arrival comes a week following the signing of the Championship’s all-time leading scorer and Jamaican international Dane Kelly, and the prior signing of two-time USL Cup champion Ilija Ilic from Louisville City FC to join returning forward Eugene Starikov in Head Coach Martin Rennie’s squad, building anticipation for the challenge the Eleven will make for the USL Cup this year.

“Thomas is coming off an excellent first USL Championship season,” said Rennie. “He scored 20 goals and collected 10 assists without taking any penalties. He’s hungry for success and we are glad to have him in Indy.”

The 31-year-old Danish forward started all 37 of his appearances for fellow USL Championship side Orange County SC across the regular season and USL Cup Playoffs in the 2018 season and played every minute of the campaign for the side. Enevoldsen’s 20 goals and 10 assists helped OCSC to a first-place finish in the regular season in the West, and then the Western Conference Final in 2018 USL Cup Playoffs as he was named a finalist for the Championship’s Most Valuable Player award in addition to his All-League honors.

Prior to his arrival in the United States, Enevoldsen enjoyed stints with Aalborg BK (Danish Superliga), FC Groningen (Eredivisie), KV Mechelen (Belgian Pro League) and NAC Breda (Eredivisie) between 2005-2018. Enevoldsen earned Superliga championship honors with in the 2007-2008 season with Aalborg BK.

Enevoldsen also made appearances in the 2007-2008 UEFA Cup, most notably scoring against Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur FC at White Hart Lane. The following season, Enevoldsen made UFEA Champions League appearances against Manchester United FC, Villarreal CF and Celtic FC.

In addition to his club play, Enevoldsen represented Denmark on a national level with caps on the U18, U19, U20, U21 and senior level. Enevoldsen scored his first international goal on May 27, 2010 in Denmark’s 2-0 win against Senegal. Enevoldsen made a single World Cup appearance that same year as a substitute in Denmark’s 1-2 loss to Cameroon.
