ORANGE COUNTY SC RE-SIGNS KEVIN ALSTON FOR THE 2019 SEASON

Key piece from 2018 West Championship team returns

IRVINE, Calif.  – Orange County SC has agreed to terms on a contract with one of the team’s top defensive players, Kevin Alston, pending league and federation approval. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alston is coming off a solid 2018 season where he put up great numbers and played a key role in helping OCSC win its second Western Conference regular-season championship. Alston appeared in 23 games for Orange County in 2018 with 37 clearances, 26 interceptions and 86 duels won.

Alston made his MLS debut with New England Revolution where he was drafted 10th overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. He is a former MLS All-Star and was recently featured in a MLS.com article calling him the “Best Fullback in the USL”.

ABOUT KEVIN ALSTON

Kevin Alston signed with Orange County SC on June 8, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C., Alston has over 170 appearances in Major League Soccer playing with New England Revolution and Orlando City SC. Alston began his professional career with New England Revolution where he was drafted 10th overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.  He spent 6 years with New England making 160 appearances with the club before moving to Orlando City SC in 2015, where he made 26 appearances.

Alston was selected to represent the MLS All-Star team and started against Manchester United FC in Houston in 2010.  He was also called up to the U.S. National Team in 2009 against Jamaica and El Salvador.

Alston played for Indiana University, leading the team to NCAA Tournaments all three years before leaving in his junior season to sign a Generation adidas contract. In 2017, Alston spent time with Orlando City B in the USL.
