Well-travelled shot-stopper recorded pair of shutouts for Penn FC in 2018 campaign

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced on Thursday it had signed 26-year-old Goalkeeper Sean Lewis, pending league and federation approval.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Roughneck family,” said Lewis, “I know that we can accomplish great things together and I cannot wait to get started.”

Lewis recorded two shutouts in eight appearances for Penn FC in the 2018 Championship campaign, serving as the back-up to Romuald Peiser over the past year, and recorded 35 saves over 14 regular-season appearances for the club overall since arriving prior to the 2017 season.

Originally from Rockford, Michigan, Lewis played college soccer for the Western Michigan Broncos and the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. After college he played for USL League Two’s Panama City Beach Pirates, and in 2015 he signed with the Olympia Warriors of Australia’s National Premier League where he helped lead the team to the Tasmanian Victory League Championship. He also had a previous stop with Jacksonville Armada FC before joining Penn FC.

“Sean is a well-rounded goal keeper that is ready to prove himself as one of the top players in the USL,” said Roughnecks Head Coach Michael Nsien, “He is a great shot stopper, but he also has great technical ability and will allow us to build out of the back comfortably. Sean’s long range of passing will also make us a vertical threat with the weapons we will have in the attack.”
