SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced on Friday it had signed defender Elliott Hord to a USL Championship contract for the 2019 season with a club option for 2020, pending league and federation approval.

Hord originally joined Republic FC midway through the 2016 season and has made 54 appearances for the side over the past two-and-a-half seasons. This past season the 27-year-old recorded three assists and 23 key passes in 18 appearances for Republic FC, while defensively he won 21 of 23 tackles and recorded 22 clearances and 15 interceptions.

“We are delighted to bring back Elliott and the versatility he provides on the right flank,” said Republic FC General Manager Todd Dunivant. “He crosses the ball as well as anyone in the league and will further add continuity to our locker room.”

Hord enters his fourth season with Republic FC after joining the club in August 2016 from USL League Two side Fresno Fuego. Hord had previously played collegiately at UC Davis from 2010-13, making 67 appearances and recording a goal and three assists during his four seasons with the Aggies.

After college, Hord joined the Fuego before moving abroad to play with Yxhults IK in the Swedish third division. He returned to the Fuego after a season in Sweden before joining Republic FC.
