Former Monarchs midfielder has recorded 10 goals, 12 assists in USL Championship career

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Wednesday it had signed English midfielder Charlie Adams, pending league and federation approval. A member of the 2017 USL Championship Regular Season champion Real Monarchs SLC, Adams has made more than 80 appearances in the league over the course of his career.

“Charlie is a tremendous player that I have come to respect over the past couple of seasons having played against him with the Real Monarchs,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier. “Charlie is a fierce competitor first and foremost; he brings the commitment and work ethic that we have instilled here in Orange County this past season with him. He is a fantastic addition to our team and I look forward to working with him this season.”

Adams played professional in his native England for Brentford and Stevenage before joining USL Championship side Louisville City FC in the 2015 season. After a brief second stint with Stevenage, Adams signed with the Monarchs late in the 2016 season and became a key figure in the club’s regular-season championship the following year.

The 24-year-old has made 83 appearances in the USL Championship regular season and USL Cup Playoffs over his career and has recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in that span.

“I was extremely flattered when OCSC called and asked me to play for them,” said Adams. “Playing for Orange County, the top team in the west last year, represents the type of challenge I wanted to take next year. I’m attracted to the style of play and ethos the team has, I’m looking forward learning and improving as much as I can and hopefully I can help the team achieve the goals everyone has set for 2019.”
