BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Legion FC announced a multi-year partnership with BBVA Compass on Tuesday, extending the banking giant’s marketing rights across Legion FC platforms and in-stadium at BBVA Compass Field on the campus of the University of Alabama-Birmingham. The partnership will also aim to create opportunities for Birmingham’s communities.

“We are excited to partner with BBVA Compass and to extend the field naming rights,” said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps. “BBVA Compass is a notable, global brand with a huge presence in Birmingham. This relationship serves as a great example of our collective community commitment.”

“Our business-driven partnership with Birmingham Legion FC will aim to create opportunities not only for the sports fans in this market, but for our communities,” said BBVA Compass Birmingham CEO Andrea Smith. “When we gifted UAB the funds to help bring BBVA Compass Field to their campus, we envisioned multiple opportunities would blossom. This new partnership is a shining example of that. We have a solid track record supporting soccer, and we’re looking forward to helping Legion FC become a staple in this area.”

In November 2014, BBVA Compass announced a $1.5 million gift to help with the construction of the stadium. Earlier this fall, the bank brought the BBVA Compass Iron City Showdown to Birmingham, strengthening its efforts to showcase Birmingham as a sports and events city to help continue economic growth.

Elements of the new partnership between the bank and Legion FC will extend from digital and social media promotions to matchday activation for Legion FC home games at BBVA Compass Field to philanthropic events.
