26-year-old USL veteran marks Tulsa's first offseason signing

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced its first player signing of the offseason on Friday, bringing in forward AJ Ajeakwa for the 2019 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

“Ajeakwa is one of the most dynamic and dangerous attacking threats I’ve seen in this league over the last few years,” said Roughnecks Head Coach Michael Nsien. “Ajeakwa is a constant threat that opposing teams will have to account for in their scouting reports. We look forward to him bringing that electric attacking ability to our team. All supporters of the Tulsa Roughnecks should be on the edge of their seat when he’s near the goal. I know he's hungry and ready to make his mark on this league.”

Ajeakwa spent the past two seasons with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, recording four goals and an assist in 30 appearances during the 2018 season. The 26-year-old, who played collegiately at both Los Angeles Harbor and Chico State University, has also spent time with fellow USL Championship clubs San Antonio FC and Orange County SC.

“I’m blessed to be given this opportunity to represent this club, organization, and city. The Roughnecks have a long history of bringing soccer to Tulsa and I’m honored to be a part of that,” said Ajeakwa. “I’m excited to play at ONEOK Field in-front of supporters such as the Roustabouts, La Union, and the Wrench Maidens and I hope to help create memorable moments with the fans and teammates alike.”
