Becomes first player to sign from FCC's USL squad ahead of club’s MLS debut

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati announced on Monday that 2018 USL All-League selection Corben Bone had been signed for the club’s inaugural season in Major League Soccer in 2019. The 30-year-old was one of the club’s first signings prior to its entry into the USL Championship for the 2016 season.

“I’m ecstatic. I’m so happy for myself and my family for a lot of hard work that I’ve put in over this long career,” Bone said. “I’m thrilled that I can return to MLS with this club because these last few years have been a special part of my life, so to achieve that is a very big accomplishment.”

Bone recorded 94 league appearances for FC Cincinnati in the past three seasons, tied for 10th in the league over that span. A former midfielder for the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer, Bone recorded 14 goals and 12 assists for FCC in the USL Championship, including a career-high 12 goals across the 2018 regular season and USL Cup Playoffs that saw him named to the 2018 All-League Second Team.

In addition to his league appearances for FC Cincinnati, Bone featured prominently in the club’s run to the Semifinals of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, scoring the opening goal against the New York Red Bulls at Nippert Stadium.

The native of Plano, Texas has made more than 120 appearances in the USL in his career, having previously played two seasons with Wilmington Hammerheads FC before joining FC Cincinnati.

“Corben has been a fantastic contributor for this organization from day one and reached even new heights this past season,” said FC Cincinnati Head Coach Alan Koch. “He is a great example of what it means to be an FC Cincinnati player on and off the pitch. We feel he provides versatility in our midfield, but also brings a strong leadership component in establishing how our team culture will be sustained at the next level.”
