Became SAFC's 2018 assists leader during loan stint from FC Cincinnati this past season

SAN ANTONIO – On Thursday, San Antonio FC announced that the club had signed midfielder Lance Laing for the 2019 USL season pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Laing originally joined San Antonio in August of 2018 on loan from FC Cincinnati and made a significant impact in his 10 appearances with SAFC. Laing started nine matches, played 778 minutes and recorded six assists, which ranked most among San Antonio players. The midfielder added five goals on the season for the Alamo City club, marking the second most behind teammate Ever Guzman in 2018. Laing tied a San Antonio FC record by recording a goal and an assist in five different matches during the course of the season, including in three straight matches from August 29-September 8.

“We are pleased to have Lance sign with us,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “Lance came in towards the end of the season and made an immediate impact. He showed professionalism every single day and was a key contributor towards the end of last season. We are glad that he has chosen to play in San Antonio for 2019.”

Prior to joining San Antonio on loan, Laing appeared in six matches with FC Cincinnati in 2018, tallying 373 total minutes.

The midfielder has also made appearances with the U-17 and full Jamaican national teams, making nine appearances with the senior squad including in the 2015 Copa America and 2015 Gold Cup.

“I’m very happy to be back in the black and red kit for the 2019 season,” said Laing. “I would like to thank everyone who has made this move possible. In the end, it was an easy decision to stay in San Antonio and continue to work with the great people within this club. My family loves it here and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
