CHICAGO – 2016 USL Cup-winners Aaron Long and Tyler Adams were among those selected in the United States Men’s National Team’s 28-player squad that will head to Europe to face England and Italy in the team’s final matches of 2018 later this month. The former New York Red Bulls II standouts were joined by former Pittsburgh Riverhounds loanee Zack Steffen, former Toronto FC II loanee Marky Delgado and former LA Galaxy II loanee Sebastian Lletget in USMNT Interim Head Coach Dave Sarachan’s squad.

The U.S. will begin the trip to Europe with a match against 2018 World Cup semifinalists England at Wembley Stadium in London on Nov. 15 (3 p.m. ET, ESPN2). Five days later, the squad will wrap up its 2018 schedule against four-time World Cup champion Italy at Luminus Arena in Genk, Belgium (2:45 p.m. ET, FS1).

“These last two matches provide a fantastic set of challenges and experiences, so we’re excited to bring in this group of players for another huge opportunity,” said Sarachan. “We continue to build with a core group that has developed throughout the last year, while including some players who we haven’t seen in some time. Overall, this is a great way to end the Kickoff Series and what has been a very productive 2018.”

Long, Steffen and Delgado are three of 17 players that return to the national team set-up after featuring during October’s friendlies against Colombia and Peru. Steffen played 90 minutes in the side’s 4-2 defeat against Los Cafeteros, while 2016 USL Defender of the Year Long made his senior debut and started alongside Delgado in the 1-1 draw with Peru.

Adams missed out on the October camp due to injury but scored his first senior international goal in his last USMNT appearance, a 2-0 victory over Mexico on Sept. 11. Lletget was called into the squad in September but left the camp early because of an injury. The 26-year-old hasn’t featured for his country since March 24, 2017 when he scored his first senior goal in a 6-0 victory over Honduras in World Cup qualifying.

Also named to the squad are former USL League Two players Brad Guzan, DeAndre Yedlin and Josh Sargent, the latter of which opened his account for the U.S. with the opening goal against Peru last month. A former player for Saint Louis FC U23, Sargent played alongside Adams at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup as the side reached the quarterfinals, and then competed for the U.S. at the FIFA U17 World Cup, also advancing to the quarterfinals.
