FC Cincinnati midfielder’s strike against Richmond earns top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – FC Cincinnati midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 29 of the 2018 season as his spectacular strike against the Richmond Kickers last Wednesday night at City Stadium took top spot in the weekly online poll.

Ledesma sent Cincinnati on its way to claiming the 2018 USL Regular Season Championship as he struck a dipping drive from just beyond the right corner of the penalty area past Richmond goalkeeper Brandon Barnes and into the far-left corner for his second goal of the evening. The contest saw Ledesma become the first player in the USL’s modern era to top both 15 goals and 15 assists in a single season.

Ledesma’s goal earned 59 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. San Antonio FC midfielder Ethan Bryant finished second with 36 percent for his fantastic first-time, bar-down volley that turned out to be the game-winning goal in his side’s 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC 2 last Saturday, while Reno 1868 FC’s Seth Casiple took third for his pinpoint volleyed finish just inside the far-left post that gave his team the lead in its 4-0 victory over Rio Grande Valley FC last Wednesday.
