Bekker Voted USL Player of the Week

Recorded two goals, one assist in crucial victory against Richmond on Saturday night

TAMPA, Fla. – North Carolina FC midfielder Kyle Bekker has been voted the USL Player of the Week for Week 29 of the 2018 season. Bekker produced two goals and one assist in NCFC’s 3-2 victory against the Richmond Kickers this past Saturday night that moved the side into the playoff positions in the Eastern Conference with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Bekker received 42 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market. OKC Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi finished second with 26 percent.

GK – Cody Laurendi, OKC Energy FC: Laurendi shone in an 11-save shutout as Energy FC took a 1-0 victory on the road against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday night at Cashman Field.

D – Karl Ouimette, Indy Eleven: Ouimette found the net in Indy’s crucial 2-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies and went 4 of 4 in tackles while making 12 recoveries and 13 clearances over the Eleven’s two outings on the week.

D – Liam Doyle, Nashville SC: Doyle won 7 of 12 duels and recorded 22 clearances as Nashville took four points from its two outings while recording an assist in the side’s 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls II.

D – Hugh Roberts, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC: Roberts recorded 12 recoveries, 17 clearances and won 17 of 22 duels and provided the assist on the side’s game-tying goal against the Charlotte Independence as the Hounds claimed four points in a two-game road trip.

M – Ethan Bryant, San Antonio FC: Bryant became the youngest goalscorer in SAFC history at just 17 years and one month as part of a solid all-around display in the club’s 3-1 victory against Seattle Sounders FC 2.

M – Kyle Bekker, North Carolina FC: Bekker recorded two goals and one assist to lead North Carolina to a 3-2 comeback victory against the Richmond Kickers that moved NCFC into the top eight in the Eastern Conference.

M – Emmanuel Ledesma, FC Cincinnati: Ledesma struck twice and recorded two key passes to lead FCC to a 4-1 victory against the Richmond Kickers last Wednesday night that clinched the 2018 USL Regular Season Championship.

M – Chris Wehan, Reno 1868 FC: Wehan posted a goal and two assists as 1868 FC swept to a pair of victories to move to the verge of clinching a playoff place, and within range of a top-four finish in the Western Conference.

M – Billy Forbes, Phoenix Rising FC: Forbes scored the game-winner after coming on as a second-half substitute in Rising FC’s 2-0 victory against Saint Louis FC and recorded two key passes after being introduced.

F – Michael Seaton, Orange County SC: Seaton notched two goals and one assist after coming on as a second-half substitute to help Orange County rally to a 5-3 victory against Las Vegas Lights FC on Wednesday night.

F – Victor Mansaray, Charleston Battery: Mansaray scored the game-winner as the Battery defeated North Carolina FC last Wednesday night and won 7 of 12 duels and made 11 possession recoveries over two outings overall.
