Fury FC shot-stopper earns award for standout save against Louisville

TAMPA, Fla. – Ottawa Fury FC goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 28 of the 2018 season as he finished top of the weekly online poll for his outstanding low save against Louisville City FC last Saturday night at Slugger Field.

Crepeau shifted across his goal quickly to make a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Louisville midfielder Niall McCabe midway through the first half of last Saturday’s contest. It’s a sight that’s been familiar this season for the Canadian international, who earlier this week set a USL modern-era single-season record with his 14th shutout of the season in Fury FC’s 1-0 win on Wednesday night against Toronto FC II.

Crepeau’s save earned 41 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Friday. Penn FC’s Sean Lewis finished second on 23 percent for his full-stretch denial of FC Cincinnati’s Emmanuel Ledesma last Saturday night at FNB Field, while the New York Red Bulls II’s Evan Louro and Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Daniel Vega finished in a tie for third with 14 percent apiece.
