TAMPA, Fla. – The USL announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Player of the Month award for August, with top performers from the past month of the 2018 season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the USL Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLSoccer.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, September 10 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, September 13.

Please note: The USL Player of the Month selections process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL MVP or position players of the year.

2018 USL Player of the Month Nominees – August

- Solomon Asante, Phoenix Rising FC – Asante scored six goals for Rising FC to help keep the side strongly in the race for first place in the USL’s Western Conference.

- Jose Barril, OKC Energy FC – Barril recorded seven assists and 17 key passes as Energy FC went on a four-game winning streak to surge toward the playoff positions in the Western Conference.

- Thomas Enevoldsen, Orange County SC – Enevoldsen played a part in nine of Orange County’s goals over the month with five goals and four assists and 10 chances created for the Western Conference contender.

- Cameron Lancaster, Louisville City FC – Lancaster recorded eight goals and two assists and logged 11 key passes over the month as he moved into the lead in the race for the USL Golden Boot.

- Matt Pickens, Nashville SC – Pickens recorded three shutouts in five contests and recorded 19 saves at an 86.36 save percentage, the highest rate among goalkeepers with at least three starts over the month.
