TAMPA, Fla. – ATL UTD 2 defender Shawn Nicklaw has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 24 of the 2018 season after his remarkable long-range finish against FC Cincinnati last Wednesday night at Coolray Field took top spot in the weekly online poll.
Nicklaw is the third ATL UTD 2 player to earn Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week honors this season following awards for Lagos Kunga and Devon Sandoval previously. The Guam international produced a stunning drive from 30 yards that picked out the top-right corner of the net for Atlanta’s lone tally of the game against the Eastern Conference leaders.
Nicklaw’s goal earned 33 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. North Carolina FC’s Zach Steinberger finished second with 24.2 percent for his scissor-kick finish that highlighted a standout performance against the Charlotte Independence last Saturday, narrowly edging Phoenix Rising FC’s Devin Vega into third place with 24 percent for his ferocious finish against San Antonio FC last Wednesday night.
