Standout forward Guerra, defender Hackshaw selected for exhibition against UAE on Sept. 6

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery announced on Tuesday that forward Ataulla Guerra and defender Neveal Hackshaw had been called up to represent Trinidad & Tobago in an international exhibition against the United Arab Emirates in Spain on Thursday, September 6. The Soca Warriors will assemble in Barcelona on September 3 before heading to Girona for the match.

The call-up is the first for Guerra since his first season with the Battery in 2016. Guerra last represented Trinidad and Tobago in a World Cup Qualifier against Costa Rica on November 11, 2016. The 30-year old attacker has scored 14 goals in 25 games this season, which has him tied for fourth in the USL Golden Boot race, two behind leaders Cameron Lancaster of Louisville City FC and Thomas Enevoldsen of Orange County SC. Guerra has earned 37 caps for Trinidad and Tobago during his career.

Hackshaw rejoins Trinidad and Tobago after being included in the team for international exhibitions against Martinique and Guadeloupe earlier this year. The 22-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Battery this season, ranking third on the team with 2,211 minutes of action and second with 112 clearances. Hackshaw has been a key figure in the Battery’s back line, winning 63 percent (138 of 219) of duels and 61.7 percent (58 of 94) aeriel duels this season.

Guerra and Hackshaw will depart for Barcelona on Sunday, September 2 following the Battery’s match against Louisville City FC at Slugger Field on Friday, August 31.
