Argentine standout’s long-range finish takes top spot in weekly fan poll for second time this season

TAMPA, Fla. – FC Cincinnati midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma has garnered the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 23 of the 2018 season as his league-leading sixth long-range goal of the season against the Charleston Battery this past Saturday night at Nippert Stadium took top spot in the weekly online poll.

The award is Ledesma’s second Goal of the Week honor this season, with the Argentine standout winning possession in the attacking third against the Battery before unleashing a dipping shot from 20 yards that clipped the underside of the crossbar and found the net to open the scoring in the top-of-the-standings Eastern Conference clash. The 30-year-old has scored 11 goals overall this season, in addition to sitting tied for the league-lead with 10 assists.

Ledesma’s goal earned 69 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday. Fresno FC’s Zach Hayden-Ellis finished in second place on 10 percent for his outstanding long-range finish against Saint Louis FC last Saturday night that served as the winner in the Foxes’ 1-0 win, while Indy Eleven’s Ben Speas and Real Monarchs SLC’s Chandler Hoffman finished tied for third on eight percent.
