TAMPA, Fla. – San Antonio FC forward Alex Bruce has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for July as his spectacular finish that lit up the on the Fourth of July celebration at Toyota Field against OKC Energy FC took top spot in the online poll conducted over the past weekend.

San Antonio had gone behind on a spectacular finish by OKC Energy FC’s Jose Barril moments after Bruce had come on as a second-half substitute in the 66th minute, but with 13 minutes to go the young Englishman produced something special of his own to equalize. Picking up possession off a turnover 35 yards from Energy FC’s goal, Bruce drove into the left channel and let go an arcing finish to the top-right corner of the net that left Energy FC goalkeeper Matt Van Oekel helpless.

Bruce’s goal earned 47 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Monday, while San Antonio FC teammate Ever Guzman finished second on 19 percent for his remarkable roulette and finish in the club’s 4-2 victory against Real Monarchs SLC. Rio Grande Valley FC’s Connor Donovan took third place on 15 percent for his blistering 30-yard strike against Las Vegas Lights FC at H-E-B Park.
