TAMPA, Fla. – With the league closing in on its 200th shutout and 2,000th save of the season as the July came to a close, the league goalkeepers again produced a strong selection of highlight-reel saves over the past month in the 2018 USL regular season. Now it’s your turn to select the best of the five selected that will earn the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award.
Voting will continue through 12 p.m. ET on Monday, August 6.
USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Month Finalists – July
Joe Kuzminsky (CHS) - #NCvCHS, 7/7/18: Kuzminsky recovered brilliantly to tip an audacious chip by North Carolina FC’s Austin da Luz from 45 yards over the crossbar in the Southern Derby clash.
Carl Woszczynski (PHX) - #FRSvPHX, 7/14/18: Woszczynski went at full stretch to make an outstanding one-handed save on a shot by Fresno FC’s Pedro Ribeiro that was pegged for the bottom-left corner.
Alex Tambakis (NC) - #NCvTOR, 7/21/18: Tambakis’ footwork was on point as he moved across his goal well to produce a diving save on a long-range shot by Toronto FC II’s Tim Kubel that was heading for his top-left corner.
Fabian Cerda (TUL) - #TULvFRS, 7/28/18: Cerda reacted well to keep out a screened shot by Fresno FC’s Jemal Johnson from 20 yards as he punched the long-range effort away despite picking up the ball late.
Jake McGuire (BST) - #PENvBST, 7/6/18: McGuire made an outstanding pair of saves to keep his side in the game as he denied chances for Penn FC’s Pedro Galvao and Calvin Rezende in stoppage time.
