OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC and the Montreal Impact announced on Friday the clubs will meet at TD Place on Friday, September 7 in the inaugural edition of the CapCity Cup. A showcase of the truly patriotic flavor the nation’s capital’s professional soccer club embodies, it will also celebrate the Ottawa-Gatineau soccer heroes and their impact on making our community the vibrant and dynamic Fury family that it is.

For Fury FC, a primary goal of the CapCity Cup is to become an expression of everything that makes Ottawa’s soccer community great. As Fury FC General Manager Julian de Guzman and Head Coach Nikola Popovic continue their work in shaping Canadian soccer by providing Canada's best talents a place to hone their craft, the CapCity Cup will also become a symbol of what young local athletes can aspire to achieve.

“CapCity Cup is a representation of the Nation’s Capital,” said De Guzman. “It’s not just another city in Canada, and this is something we should continue to celebrate. It’s a big honour to be the Nation’s Capital professional soccer club and we should be proud of it whenever we have the opportunity to host other clubs, whether it is in league action or for a friendly like this year’s CapCity Cup match.”

Kickoff for the inaugural edition of CapCity Cup is set for 7 p.m. ET, and will give an opportunity for fans across the region to witness some of the top Canadian soccer talents in North America compete not only for bragging rights, but the privilege to be the first to ever lift the CapCity Cup.

“The CapCity Cup is an opportunity to show appreciation to teams’ that visit us and create a new excitement for fans that get to see these high-level teams play,” said De Guzman. “It becomes something to look forward to every year, to have a big quality opponent come here and play against the Ottawa Fury FC.”

Following a community-driven, online nomination process, Ottawa-Gatineau’s local soccer heroes will also be recognized as part of the celebrations for the dedicated, selfless work they do all year round. In addition, fans in attendance will get the chance to meet some of their favorite players and be on the pitch for the presentation of the CapCity Cup to the winners.

Tickets for the first edition of the CapCity Cup, available for as low as $21 (plus service fees), will go on sale this Tuesday, July 24 at 10 a.m. on OttawaFuryFC.com/tickets or by contacting the TD Place Box Office.
