1. The Richmond Kickers managed their first road point of the season with their 2-1 win over Penn FC. It was their second win at FNB Field this season after a 3-2 win in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round.
2. Former Kickers player David Burlow secured his first win as the Richmond Kickers Head Coach, ending a four-game winless run that has the Kickers well out of the USL Cup Playoffs race. The win helps Richmond's Playoff hopes, now eight points away from Penn FC in eighth.
3. While Lucky Mkosana made it seven goals in five matches, Penn FC saw its impressive run of form come to an end tonight at six games. That run has pushed Penn FC into Playoffs contention but with seven straight away games coming, tonight's loss could have a big impact on whether Penn FC succeeds.
A goal in each half saw the Richmond Kickers manage a vital 2-1 victory against Penn FC at FNB Field.
After controlling the bulk of possession for the first half-hour Richmond hit the lead in the 32nd minute through a Scott Thomsen free kick. The shot was sweetly hit rising up into the top corner giving Thomsen his first goal of the season.
A heavy touch from Tiago Calvano allowed Brian Shriver to take advantage and set up the second goal for Richmond. Shriver stole possession and sent a ball forward for Luiz Fernando who made no mistake.
Penn FC got back into the match in the 77th minute when Lucky Mkosana stepped up to score a penalty, continuing his impressive scoring run.
