USL Discipline Report – Week 17

TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL’s discipline report for Week 17 of the 2018 United Soccer League season:

The Charlotte Independence’s Donnie Smith has been suspended for three games following his red card for violent conduct against the Tampa Bay Rowdies last Wednesday night. Smith served the first game of his suspension this past Saturday against Bethlehem Steel FC and will also be unavailable for Charlotte’s games with Indy Eleven (July 7) and Nashville SC (July 11).

Phoenix Rising FC’s Kody Wakasa has been suspended for one game after receiving a red card for denial of a goalscoring opportunity against Orange County SC this past Friday. Wakasa will be unavailable for Phoenix’s game on July 14 against Fresno FC.

Indy Eleven’s Karl Ouimette has been suspended for one game after being sent off for receiving two yellow cards against Penn FC this past Saturday. Ouimette will be unavailable for Indy’s game on Wednesday night against Ottawa Fury FC.

New York Red Bulls II Head Coach John Wolyniec has been suspended for one game after being dismissed from the technical area for irresponsible behavior in this past Saturday’s game against Louisville City FC. Wolyniec will be unavailable for Friday night’s contest with ATL UTD 2. 

Las Vegas Lights FC’s Marco Jaime has been suspended for one game for receiving his fifth yellow card of the season this past Saturday against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. Jaime will be unavailable for this Saturday’s game as Lights FC plays host to Saint Louis FC.

The LA Galaxy II’s Hugo Arrellano was suspended for one game following his red card for serious foul play against Tulsa Roughnecks FC last Wednesday night. Arrellano served his suspension this past Sunday as the Galaxy II hosted Seattle Sounders FC 2.

Both the Charlotte Independence’s Joel Johnson and Fresno FC’s Jemal Johnson were suspended for one game following their dismissals for two yellow cards last week, and both players served their respective suspensions this past Saturday as the Independence faced Bethlehem Steel FC and Fresno faced Sacramento Republic FC.

Three players served one-game suspensions this past weekend for caution accumulation after infractions in midweek contests. Louisville City FC’s Paco Craig was unavailable for this past Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls II, Tulsa Roughnecks FC’s Ivan Mirkovic was unavailable for this past Saturday’s game against Las Vegas Lights FC, and Toronto FC II’s Kyle Bjornethun was unavailable for this past Sunday’s game against the Charleston Battery.

ATL UTD 2’s Oliver Shannon is no longer on caution accumulation warning, having had one caution removed under the USL’s Good Behavior incentive to place him on three cautions for the season.

The following players enter the upcoming matches one caution away from a yellow card accumulation suspension. A fifth caution would result in a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine. Here is the breakdown per club:

  • LA Galaxy II (1): Emmanuel Appiah

  • Las Vegas Lights FC (1): Miguel Garduno

  • North Carolina FC (1): Kyle Bekker

  • Orange County SC (1): Alex Crognale

  • Penn FC (2): Tiago Calvano, Dan Metzger

  • Richmond Kickers (1): Heviel Cordoves

  • Sacramento Republic FC (2): Shannon Gomez, Jeremy Hall

  • Saint Louis FC (2): Jonathan Barden, Lewis Hilton

  • San Antonio FC (3): Jose Escalante, Ryan Felix, Pecka

  • Swope Park Rangers (3): Amer Didic, Wan Kuzain, Matheus Silva

  • Tampa Bay Rowdies (1): Georgi Hristov
