THREE THINGS THAT MATTERED

1. Louisville City FC saw the James O’Connor era come to an end with a dramatic 3-3 draw against the New York Red Bulls II as Magnus Rasmussen scored a late equalizer in stoppage time after New York had reeled off three consecutive goals in the second half. The draw allowed FC Cincinnati – a 2-0 winner against Ottawa Fury FC in front of 27,107 fans at Nippert Stadium – to move further ahead at the top of the Eastern Conference.

2. Fresno FC gave itself new life in its bid to reach the USL Cup Playoffs as it handed Sacramento Republic FC a 2-0 defeat at Chukchaski Park in the second meeting between the Northern California rivals this season. Coupled with a draw between Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and San Antonio FC, and Saint Louis FC being held at home by Rio Grande Valley FC, the Foxes jumped into ninth in the Western standings.

3. The race for the USL Golden Boot continued to add contenders on Saturday night as Louisville City FC’s Cameron Lancaster, FC Cincinnati’s Danni Konig and the Charlotte Independence’s Jorge Herrera all recorded their eighth goal of the season, respectively. There are now 10 players with at least eight goals in the USL this season, with the Swope Park Rangers’ Kharlton Belmar and Orange County SC’s Thomas Enevoldsen still top of the tree on nine.
