THREE THINGS THAT MATTERED

1. When Ottawa Fury FC scores first it goes on to win matches, that held up in this match, with the third minute goal sparking a big win, the fifth time Fury FC had won after scoring first.

2. The Swope Park Rangers have been unbeatable at home, extending their home undefeated streak to 15-games with a win over Las Vegas Lights FC, such is that home advantage that even when a stoppage time penalty seemed to force a draw the ball somehow stayed out. Las Vegas' road struggles continued bringing its road record to 1-4-1 and with seven of the next nine games away for Lights FC, that needs to change quickly.

3. After falling to second in the USL Golden Boot race last night Swope Park's Kharlton Belmar responded perfectly, scoring his ninth goal of the season to join Orange County's Thomas Enevoldsen at the top of the league for goal scoring.

GAME REPORTS

SWOPE PARK RANGERS (3) VS. LAS VEGAS LIGHTS FC (2)

A strong second half performance proved the difference as two goals pushed the Swope Park Rangers to a 3-2 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC at Children's Mercy Park.

A rocket of a shot gave the Rangers the lead after a short pass from Chase Minter found a wide-open Seth Sinovic who took advantage of that space with a powerful shot. But the visitors quickly responded, seeing more of the ball and an exquisite shot from Daigo Kobayashi running onto Sammy Ochoa's header and easily passing it off the post into the back of the net.

A deflected pass allowed Swope Park to take the lead as the ball fell to Colton Storm which saw him square from the right for Kharlton Belmar on the far post who simply poked it in. Wan Kuzain wrapped things up in the 67th minute with a perfect freekick which he lifted over the wall, dipping it just under the post to get his side a two-goal cushion.

A long run from Ochoa in the 87th minute saw him power past the Swope Park defense, which allowed him to get through and score a goal which set up a dramatic finish. Vegas could have stolen a draw in stoppage time when a trick penalty play saw Ochoa hit the post after Carlos Alvarez's soft tap forward.

NEW YORK RED BULLS II (0) VS. OTTAWA FURY FC (3)

An Adonijah Reid hat trick was too much for New York Red Bulls II as the youngster scored all three goals to earn Ottawa Fury a 3-0 victory at MSU Soccer Park.

It took just three minutes for the visitors to open the scoring when Tony Taylor squared the ball from the left for Reid who shot from the edge of the area, the shot took a deflection which helped it into the back of the net.

Ottawa doubled its lead in the 57th minute and again it was a moment of brilliance from Reid as he ran onto the ball after a series of headers and just passed the ball into the back of the net. Reid sealed his hat trick in the 64th minute in similar fashion, making another long run, before he used his footwork to suck in the defense which opened up space for the shot which was perfectly placed again.
