TAMPA, Fla. – The USL announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Player of the Month award for May, with top performers from the past month of the 2018 season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the USL Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLSoccer.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, June 11 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, June 14.

Please note: The USL Player of the Month selections process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL MVP or position players of the year.

2018 USL Player of the Month Nominees – May

- Efrain Alvarez, LA Galaxy II – Alvarez scored six goals in four appearances for the Galaxy II and became the youngest player to record a hat trick in the league’s modern era in a 6-3 win against Saint Louis FC on May 9.

- Maxime Crepeau, Ottawa Fury FC – Crepeau recorded shutouts in all six of Fury FC’s regular-season contests in May as the Canadian international recorded 16 saves while the club went 4-0-2 over the month

- Ataulla Guerra, Charleston Battery – The Trinidad & Tobago international recorded four goals and one assist in five games for the Battery as the club went undefeated through the month of May.

- Emmanuel Ledesma, FC Cincinnati – Ledesma had three goals and five assists in five games for Cincinnati to take the league-lead in assists while helping the club to three victories in the month.

- Ethan Zubak, LA Galaxy II – Zubak recorded seven goals in five games for the Galaxy II, including the first four-goal game of the season as Los Dos defeated Las Vegas Lights FC on May 26.
