TORONTO – Toronto FC II announced on Friday that Head Coach Laurent Guyot was leaving the club for a head coaching job in Europe.

“We would like to thank Laurent for his service to the club,” said Toronto FC Senior Vice President, Soccer Operations and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “He was nearing the end of his contract and has decided to pursue new opportunities in the game.”

Guyot joined Toronto FC in June 2015 as the clubs Academy Director. This season, on January 26, 2018 he was named Head Coach of Toronto FC II. Prior to joining Toronto FC, he served as Head Coach of the French national U16 and U17 teams as well as an instructor with the French Football Federation.

“I want to thank Bill Manning, Tim Bezbatchenko and Greg Vanney for the trust they put in me to lead both the Toronto FC Academy and Toronto FC II,” said Guyot. “I feel like this is a good time to move on, and I am looking forward to my next challenge. My family and I enjoyed our time in Toronto, and my family will always feel a connection to the city and the club.”

Toronto FC II will next be in action on Saturday, June 9 when it visits Penn FC at FNB Field as it looks for its first win of the 2018 season.
