Rising FC goalkeeper’s double-save against Swope Park earns top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – Phoenix Rising FC goalkeeper Zac Lubin has claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 11 of the 2018 season as his outstanding double-save against the Swope Park Rangers this past Saturday finished top of the weekly online poll.

Lubin showed off his reflexes to help keep Phoenix in the game against the defending Western Conference champion, making a fingertip save to keep out Tyler Blackwood that turned the ball onto the right post before recovering to parry a follow-up attempt by Rodrigo Saravia from just inside the penalty area.

Lubin’s save earned 43 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Friday. FC Cincinnati’s Evan Newton finished second with 38 percent for his diving stop that kept out a precise free kick by Louisville City FC’s Oscar Jimenez, while Fresno FC’s Kyle Reynish finished third for his excellent double-save to keep out first a free kick by Orange County’s Koji Hashimoto and then the rebound from Alex Crognale.
