International exhibition set for July 14 at Greater Nevada Field

RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC announced on Tuesday it will host Liga MX side Monarcas Morelia on Saturday, July 14 in an international exhibition at Greater Nevada Field. The game is presented in conjunction with Pazzo Sports, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. PT as Reno hosts a Liga MX team for the second consecutive year following 2017’s visit of Atlas FC to northern Nevada.

“We are committed to bringing the best soccer clubs in the world to the biggest little city,” Reno 1868 FC President Eric Edelstein said. “I’m thrilled to have a club like Morelia making its first ever trip to Nevada and celebrating soccer together at Greater Nevada Field.”

Tickets for the exhibition will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 20 following a pre-sale to 1868 FC season ticket members.

Morelia is one of the premier clubs hailing from the Mexican state of Michoacán. The club has won Liga MX, Copa MX, and Supercopa MX over the past decade, and in both 2002 and 2003 reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League.

This past season the club reached the postseason playoffs in both the Apertura and Clausura, with Peruvian forward Raul Ruidiaz finishing fourth in the Clausura with nine goals in 16 appearances.
