TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL’s discipline report for Week 1 of the 2018 United Soccer League season:

Six players and one assistant coach are suspended to open the new season following disciplinary procedures that occurred at 2017 season’s conclusion.

The Richmond Kickers’ Luis Fernando is suspended for three games after being sent off for violent conduct in the Kickers’ final game of the 2017 regular season. Fernando will be absent for the Kickers’ games against Bethlehem Steel FC (March 18), Indy Eleven (March 24) and North Carolina FC (March 31).

Penn FC’s Kyle Venter has two games remaining to be served on a suspension that began at the conclusion of the 2017 season after being sent off for violent conduct against FC Cincinnati last October. Venter will miss Penn’s contests against the Charleston Battery (March 24) and Pittsburgh Riverhounds (March 31).

The Portland Timbers 2’s Lamar Batista will also complete a suspension carried over from the 2017 season this Friday when T2 visits Seattle Sounders FC after being handed a three-game suspension after his ejection from Portland’s game last October against the LA Galaxy II for violent conduct.

Reno 1868 FC’s Guy Abend will serve a one-game suspension after his ejection for unsporting behavior at the conclusion of the 2017 USL Cup for Louisville, which will be served in 1868 FC’s game this Saturday against the Swope Park Rangers.

The Charlotte Independence’s Alex Martinez will be suspended for this Saturday’s game against Ottawa Fury FC after being sent off for two cautions in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs last October.
