ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC will be without goalkeeper Tomas Gomez for between three-to-four months after suffering a hip injury sustained during offseason training, the club announced on Wednesday as it departed for Melbourne, Fla. for preseason training camp.

A two-time USL Golden Glove-winner with the Rochester Rhinos, Gomez joined STLFC this offseason in somewhat of a homecoming, with the goalkeeper having come through the St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy that is also part of the club’s organization.

“We have been monitoring Tomas’ injury and unfortunately his absence will be longer than originally expected,” said STLFC Head Coach Anthony Pulis. “Injuries are part of professional sports, we have every faith in our medical department to ensure he makes a full recovery and look forward to him joining the group in the not too distant future.”

“While not the ideal start to my time in St. Louis, I plan to give 100 percent to my rehabilitation so I can return to the pitch as soon as possible,” added Gomez.

Additionally, the club announced the departure of goalkeeper Devala Gorrick, who is pursuing other professional opportunities after spending the past season at the club.

“I would like to thank the club and the fans for their support,” said Gorrick.

The club will have a familiar face between the sticks in training as it arrives in Florida, however, with former STLFC goalkeeper Mark Pais among those on trial with the club after spending the past year with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer.

Additionally, the club currently has former Orlando City B goalkeeper Jake Fenlason and Academy signing Seth Stiebel on its roster as preparations continue for the new season.
