For the second straight year Tomas Gomez claimed the USL Golden Glove after another spectacular season in goal for the Rochester Rhinos. Gomez managed just a 0.73 goals-against average, with 11 shutouts in the season. The record is impressive given he played twice as many matches in 2017 as in 2016, making 22 last season after stepping in part-way through 2016.
Gomez managed a 71.4 percent save percentage in the season, one of the strongest in the league as he continued to establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the USL. Gomez will be moving to Saint Louis FC for the 2018 season, where fans will be hoping for a third consecutive Golden Glove. Here is a look at some of Gomez’s best moments of 2017.
