Orange County SC news and notes

• Current record: 10-10-10, 40pts

• Orange County took a 3-1 win against Sacramento FC on Wednesday night at Champions Soccer Stadium to keep its hopes of returning to the USL Cup Playoffs for a third consecutive season alive.

• With the game level at halftime, Orange County earned victory as it scored twice in the final 10 minutes through goals by Dusan Stevanovic and Jerry van Ewijk.

• Orange County is now three points back of eighth-place OKC Energy FC entering this weekend's action. A draw wouldn't eliminate OCSC from playoff contention, but it would need either OKC or Tulsa Roughnecks FC to lose both of their remaining two home games to have a chance to qualify for the postseason. 

• Van Ewijk's goal was his eighth of the regular season, while Irvin Parra recorded his ninth assist of the year on the late insurance goal by the Dutch midfielder.

Reno 1868 FC news and notes

• Current record: 16-7-7, 55pts

• 1868 FC saw its 13-game home undefeated streak come to an end last Saturday night in a 3-0 loss to Real Monarchs SLC at Greater Nevada Field.

• Reno had the better chances throughout the first half, but a missed penalty kick by Antoine Hoppenot saw the Monarchs keep the game scoreless until the break. Real then scored three second-half goals to pull away late for victory. 

• The loss ended a two-game winning streak for Reno, and saw both the third-place Swope Park Rangers and fourth-place San Antonio FC pull level on 55 points in the standings. 

• Reno now needs victory in each of its final two games, and for San Antonio to fall in one of its final three games, to keep it in contention for a second-place finish in the Western Conference.

• Each side has taken victory in the opening regular-season series between the teams, with Reno having taken a 3-1 victory when they first visited Orange County on Sept. 7.
